Step 3

Community Outreach

Volunteers remodeling

This is where the neighborhood partnership reaches out beyond the school and into its surrounding neighborhood. When partnerships get to know the community and its neighbors, needs become more apparent. Community Outreach gives the opportunity to build relationships, empower the residents, highlight the assets in the community.

ENP engages in three aspects of community outreach: Relational Empowerment, Tool Trailer Projects, Community Engagement

Relational Empowerment

Relational Empowerment is an avenue for the partnering church to focus on the emotional and personal needs of the community they are serving.  Examples include:

  • Community Meetings
  • English Classes
  • Financial Workshops
  • Home Ownership Workshop
  • Neighborhood Watch Meetings
  • Cooking/Nutrition Classes
  • Reading Program
  • Create Neighborhood Resource Center

Tool Trailer Projects

When the partnering church identifies a need in the neighborhood, ENP can come alongside to help. Whether repairing a broken window or coordinating a street clean-up, ENP can help oversee the project and provide the necessary tools. The partnering church will be the face of the project and responsible for providing a team of volunteers to do the work.

ENP can help coordinate projects such as:

  • Street Clean-ups
  • Simple Home Repair
  • Smoke Detector Installation
  • Yard Work Assistance
  • School Campus Beautification
  • Community Park Clean-up

Community Engagement

ENP can help facilitate special events and activities that engage the community in simple and fun ways such as:

  • Community Fairs
  • Spring Break Camps
  • Block Parties
  • Mission Christmas
  • Movie Nights
  • Bike Repair
  • Sports Camps
  • School Carnival Support

SERVE DAY EVENT

As a church gets more involved in their partnership neighborhood, all three aspects of Community Outreach can be combined into an all day or all weekend event that we call a Serve Day Event.  This is where the entire church is encouraged to serve together in, and alongside the community.  ENP will help plan and coordinate the logistics of the event which can involve anywhere from 200 to 1500 people serving in a variety of service opportunities in your partnership neighborhood.
