Meet Kristin . . . and be inspired!

One of the greatest joys of being a part of Every Neighborhood Partnership is the opportunity I have to meet some amazing people. I would like to introduce you to Kristin, a high school student who is giving back and inviting her friends and classmates at Bullard High to do the same!

Thanks for sharing your story, Kristin!

My experience working with Saturday Sports has been life changing. I never expected to become so emotionally invested in each child’s life nor start my own club at Bullard High School to expand this opportunity to my peers.

When I first heard about Every Neighborhood Partnership and their Saturday Sports program, about a year ago, I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and I’m so glad I did. My first experience at a Saturday Sports was at Olmos Elementary; there I played jump rope, made bracelets and at the end helped pass out lunches. When we finished passing out lunches, a child about 8 years old came back up and asked me if he could be given another lunch for his mother because he knew she wouldn’t have anything to eat that day.

It was then I realized how blessed I was to have the assurance of 3 meals a day and from that point on I came every Saturday I could and wanted to give back as much as possible, thinking somehow my time there would provide some sort of consistency in their lives.

After 7 fun-filled months of getting to know each kid I thought of how I could make Saturday Sports bigger. As a high school student I’m limited, but when the 2016-2017 school year rolled around I filled out all the necessary paperwork and officially started Bullard’s Saturday Sports Club. Since then my peers and I have been coming to Olmos Elementary and engaging in all kinds of activities with the goal of being there as a mentor and making their Saturday’s a little more fun.

To see how Every Neighborhood Partnership has impacted my life is incredible and I can’t wait to see where else it leads me in the future.

Thanks Kristin for your heart to love and serve your city and sharing your vision with others!

A few months ago, I told, Kristin that I imagine she will be running a Saturday Sports Program of her own before long.  Her response, “I hope so!  That would be so amazing!

Our city’s future is in good hands!
