On Saturday, April 2nd, hundreds of people from Northwest Church will be serving on the campus of Addams Elementary School and working on projects in the surrounding neighborhood. Families from the school and neighborhood have been invited to participate and join volunteer teams who will be working on campus doing landscaping, painting, cleaning and a few special projects for the teachers and staff. In the neighborhood teams will install and check smoke detectors, offer yard work assistance and clean up streets, while construction teams help build and repair wheel chair ramps and resurface a play area in a mobile home park.
The morning of service will be followed by a free BBQ and CARNIVAL from 11am to 2pm and the entire neighborhood along with families and staff from Addams were invited to attend. The celebration will include a BBQ lunch, carnival games, bounce houses, face painting and much more.
. . .
Northwest Church has been partnering with Addams Elementary for the past two years and hosts a Saturday Sports Program each week at the school. They also have volunteers who help out in the classroom and in other areas on campus.
The goal of Serve Saturday is to reach out beyond the school and meet the physical needs of families in the Addam’s Elementary neighborhood, to continue building relationships, and simply let the neighborhood know that Northwest Church cares about them! This day will also give more people from the church an opportunity to see ways they can invest in the community year-round. They are sending a beautiful message to the neighborhood! They are also setting a great example for other churches . . . of the importance and value of investing in our city in a very personal way.
