CLEANING THE PARK
It was a beautiful morning - a perfect day for kicking a soccer ball at Saturday Sports! But the kids knew that Saturday Sports was cancelled. They could have stayed home, but these awesome kids knew that this was they day they working - NOT playing and the plan was to spend the morning cleaning up their park - the park under the bridge at Belmont and San Pablo.
About 40 kids and 12 leaders showed up ready to work! They put on gloves and worked hard cleaning the play structure, taking care of graffiti, washing the sidewalks, picking up trash, and sweeping; and the morning ended with a BBQ. This was a great way to help these kids understand that this park belongs to them as a citizen of Fresno. They have the opportunity to enjoy it and can also play a big part in taking care of it.
SERVING THE TEACHERS
The Leadership Girls at Susan B Anthony were able to honor the teachers by serving at a luncheon on "Day of the Teacher". They set the tables, served, cleared plates and also recited poems for the staff. At Open House, they helped sell pizza as a fund raiser for the school, and will pass out programs at the 6th Grade Promotion next week.
These are memorable experiences for these kids that will help shape their future, as well as being great opportunities to think of others and "give back".
