For mid November, this past weekend sure was a busy one, and the Lord blessed us with some amazing sunny weather, which was helpful as we had so many outdoor events.
The sun managed to break through the clouds just in time for the 19 Saturday Sports programs that took place all over town, as well as 2 outreaches that we would like to spotlight.
In the Jefferson neighborhood a collaboration between our partnership teams, FIFUL's student volunteers, the City of Fresno and the community residents, stirred a major street beautification project. Over 50 adults and youth canvassed the area, picking up trash, sweeping sidewalks and cleaning the major alleys that seem to accumulate trash on a regular basis. The community really felt encouraged by the partners coming along side them, and look foward to the next one! They are also hoping that the mural that they started in one of the alleys will be the beginning of a transformation for that area.
. . .
While that was going on, our El Encino church leader, Gilbert Salcedo, was coordinating a prayer walk through downtown Fresno. He amassed nearly 200 folks to walk through our downtown streets and engage in intentional prayer for our leaders, our residents, our schools, and most importantly, God's continued presence in our city. It culminated in some worship time and scripture talk in front of City Hall.
What a great morning to see our servants in action and prayer, all with a vision of bringing restoration to Fresno.
