Gooooaallll!!! (a.k.a. Goal)

My husband is a rather big fan of soccer, which means that I have grown acustomed to hearing the wonderfully loud and passionate "gooooalll!" exclamation resounding from the TV (Ok.  I'll be honest.  We don't own a TV.  We (he) watch soccer on espn3.com.  The "no TV" story is for another time.).

Anyway, there are a lot of folks out there who enjoy soccer and, here in Fresno, there are a lot of parents who want their kids to learn how to play.  It's a ton of fun and great exercise!  And, for some, it's culturally a part of who they are.  What's unfortante is that it can cost a significant amount of money to be involved with a soccer league, so there are many kids who don't end up learning how to play beyond "pick-up" games (Nice term, huh?!  Ask me how I know about pick-up games later.  Hint: my husband also likes to watch documentaries on soccer.).

With this in mind, Winchell Elementary School approached their parrtnership Churches, Central Valley Church of Christ and Paraclete Missionary Baptist, letting them know that it was the desire of the parents of Winchell students for their kids to learn to play properly.  So, in lieu of a traditional Saturday Sports program on Saturday mornings (at least for the next six weeks), these two churches are putting on a six-week soccer camp for the students!

ENP is excited about a lot of things here!  We are excited to see these Churches meet a felt need for the parents and students of Winchell Elementary.  We're excited to see the kids and volunteers having such a great time.  We're excited to see them outside getting some amazing exercise...and enjoying it.  And, we're excited to see some great character being fostered in the kids as a result of being a part of this camp.

And, I am personally excited about something; I am excited at the possibility of watching one of them on espn3.com someday (or maybe we'll have a TV by then...).  ;)

I do want to respond to erlaier suggestions that Bozhanov will prove to be the Sultanov of this years competition. I was at the Cliburn in 1989 when Sultanov won, and I think theres almost no room for comparison between these two. Sultanov was an unbelievable talented young man who bounded across the stage and attacked the piano like a hyperactive kid. I remember when he broke a string during the Mephisto Waltz, he pointed down into the piano case with a fiendish grin, as if to say Look what I did! For all his mechanical prowess, I thought he was a banger, and I would have placed all 5 of the other finalists ahead of him. (In the next year, I heard him play the Appassionata at the Kennedy Center. The fortes were shrill and harsh, and even the 2nd movement was too fast worst Beethoven Ive ever heard on a concert stage.) Who knows what he might have grown into if he had lived a full life, but he was very much a work in progress when I heard him.

shearer was my footballing hero.since the age i properly started to understand football i have revered him as my idol.in my opinion he should be considered in the pantheon of greats of his era, figo, zidane et al.though he is an icon he would have had legendary status if he had just joined a big club such as man utd, but he didnt and instead chose to stay true to his roots by joining newcastle.he often carried our team in many ways.he always wore the geordie strip with pride and carried our banner with pride, humility and honour.he is for want of an analogy, what raul is to real madrid and spain.both are club legends and greats for their country who have similar characters.shearer is the greatest player to wear our strip purely for the reason that he did it so brilliantly.nonetheless i am sure beardsley goes up there but i wasnt born when he was really strutting his stuff. car insurance cialis

Isaiah 54:5 (asv) tells us, Thy Maker is thy husband; JEHOVAH OF HOSTS (my emphasis) is his name. Here Isaiah provides a twofold glimpse of our Lord-Sabaoth. First, He is our Maker. Second, He is likewise a Husband. This is a picture of God in His Providential Role Lockyer writes: Has death (annulment/divorce) taken your dear partner and provider and are heart and home vacant, and children left fatherless? Take courage, sorrowing one, for the Lord offers to fill that dear ones place with more of His own abiding presence, and be more to you than an earthly husband could be. May you prove Him to be as a husband in your widowhood. (because of death of spouse or marriage) online car insurance cheap car insurance

NickI understand that older players get hurt but so do young ones. Grant Hill lost 5 years early in his career but look at him now. I dont think you can say that JO at 31 is old but he got injured over the last several years from his late twenties. It would be interesting to know what the numbers are if anyone has ever made a study. There are numerous young guys like Brandon Roy, Sam Bowie, etc. that get injured but I will agree that wear and tear causes problems for all ages and it would seem older players may be more susceptible to injury, but I dont think you can argue that because a player is older injuries are going to happen.
