On Wednesday, February 3rd, a room full of students at Susan B Anthony found out how they will be able to EARN a New Bike! Mike Slayden shared statistics and charts explaining the importance of nutrition, exercise and education. Students were very attentive, but were most excited about the details and asked lots of quesitons, like: "When will we get the bike?" First things first kids!
Here is how they will be able to earn a New Bike, New Lock and New Helmet: Each student was challenged to earn 350 points in the next 4 months by reaching personal academic goals in the area of Math and English/Language Arts. They will also receive points for character, service, attendance and parent involvement. GENIUS!
The purpose of the bike is to motivate each student toward a healthy lifestyle through various incentive programs in the following years. This is a pilot program at Susan B Anthony this year. The goal is for this model to be reporduced on a yearly basis with schools who partner with ENP.
