- Saturday Sports (Saturday Mornings from 9:00 - 11:00)
- Saturday Sports is a weekly program that runs the length of the school year at Susan B Anthony. Sports, crafts and fun . . . one of the easiest things you will ever do and a great way to get to know the kids!
- Mentoring
- Commitment is one year and the abiity to spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with your student. It's a valuable investment of time!
- Classroom Volunteering (Commitment: 2-4 hours/one day a week - September through June)
- Spend time in a classroom helping kids with reading, math, special projects or wherever the teacher needs you. The kids look forward to you being there and can't wait til you come back!
- Summer Reading Program
- This past summer the reading program took place twice a week at a home just down the street from the school, with reading, games, and contests to encourage the kids to read during the summer. Consider participating during the summer of 2010!
- SERVE DAY 2010 (Sunday, April 18th)
- A full day of service in the Susan B Anthony Community. Sunday services are cancelled and we spend the day blessing our Target Neighborhood. Team leaders needed! Sign-ups coming soon!
Partnership History
The Well’s relationship with Susan B Anthony began in 2002 with a simple two hour ministry called the Patty Project. On Saturday mornings we played football, basketball, jumped rope and finished up with a talk about being positive people at school, home and in the neighborhood. This ministry turned into Saturday Sports a few years later.
We didn’t know at the time that this relationship would soon blossom and catapult the ministry into what it is today. In 2009 we saw almost half of the school’s enrollment attending Saturday Sports, a volunteer in nearly every classroom and a thriving mentoring program that has followed some mentees from elementary to high school. Over 5,000 community outreach hours have been logged by volunteers in the last 4 years and an economic development engine has been created in a very successful thrift store, Neighborhood Thrift at Olive and Palm.
Most recently we’ve had 3 Wellians purchase homes in the community which has created a very valuable neighborhood presence.
We are encouraged by the relationships that have been established and look forward to the future as more people from The Well become connected with people in the Susan B Anthony neighborhood.
