Recreational Resilience

Overview

Recreation and play are relational activities that provide the building blocks for creating resilient people and communities. Through community recreational programming such as Saturday Sports and on campus recreational programming like yoga, drumming and dance ENP provide youth the opportunity to build new relationships and to have new experiences that help to build their individual capacity to be resilient in the face of social, economic and personal adversity.

Programs

Campus Recreation

Active recreation and play are essential to healthy child development. Through active recreation and play, kids learn vital social skills like making friends and problem solving. Through our on campus recreation programing and activities we help schools to create adult and student directed play environments and opportunities where every student can participate and experience the social, emotional, cognitive and physical benefits of play.

For Elementary School Students

Our goal for our elementary age students is that they feel cared for, supported, challenged to grow, empowered to choose, and connected to new opportunities as a result of building healthy and meaningful relationships with our adult volunteers.

For College Students

College students participating in experiential based learning such as service-learning classes, internships, community volunteering can benefit academically, professionally, and personally.

We strategically provide college students the opportunity to…

  • Grow in their exposure to and understanding of diverse cultures and communities.
  • Learn about complex social issues and their root causes that students and families face.
  • Develop vital skills in the areas of communication, collaboration, and leadership
  • Connect with professionals and community members who they can learn from
  • Grow a professional network of people you might connect with again later for jobs or other internships

For Community Volunteer

Most people volunteer for worthwhile causes in our community because of a genuine desire to help others. At the same time volunteering and helping others also has positive outcomes for the volunteer, such as reducing stress, depression, increased mental stimulation and providing a sense of purpose.

We provide community volunteers the opportunity to…

  • Connect and build healthy relationships with others
  • Experience fun and fulfilling activities
  • Make a difference in the lives of kids, families and school staff
