Hi, Jenessa Hefler from ENP here! Coming to you virtually from my very yellow kitchen. I hope you all are staying safe and connected in these unprecedented times. In light of our schools being closed and many parents and kids at home trying to navigate a new homeschool life, we wanted to make our Literacy Mentor (LM) materials free and easily accessible to you.

In this video, I will walk you through the materials in the LM Kit zip file (individual files are also attached below). If you are unfamiliar with the Literacy Mentoring program (click here to learn more), we train and equip volunteers to work with underperforming Kinder through 2nd-grade students in our local schools.
We currently have about 275 volunteers working with over 1000 kids across 30 sites. Sadly all that has come to halt, but we hope you can use and share some of these resources with the kids you are connected with.
Included in the download:
- Table of Contents
- Booklets (print double-sided, fold in half and staple)
- Flashcards (print double-sided, cut to make 8 double-sided cards per page)
- Games (ideally print and laminate for re-use)
- Passages Book 1 (1st grade, but good practice for 2nd grade as well)
Materials you may need, not included:
- Whiteboard marker
- Dice
- Game pieces (can use beans, coins, etc)
- Plastic “hoppable” frogs (from Dollar Tree)
- Sensory bag- made of hair gel and food coloring
