Two of our core values at Peoples Church are to love others and love sacrifice. These two values are at the heart of what we were able to do as a faith family with ENP at I Love My City!
Sometimes though, I find that it’s easy to get distracted by the day to day and forget the heart behind what each of us as Christ followers are called to do.I think when Jesus says love your neighbor he means it. But my actions might not always confirm what’s in my heart. That’s why we wanted to take two Saturdays and actively come together as a faith family to love our neighbors here in Fresno. It was kind of a way for us to jump start our actions to agree with our hearts.
These two Saturdays at I Love My City we saw almost 500 people come together to say “I Love My City!” And it was amazing. We were able to partner with ENP and serve at Saturday Sports, local organizations, and individual families who just needed a helping hand. We all probably expected it, but at the end of each of day we were asking when can we do this again! There is something about tangibly loving people and seeing them feel blessed that blesses us in return. It stirs in us this desire to live into the callings that Jesus gives us. Just like his command to love our neighbor.
These two days were another testament that when Jesus calls us to do something, he will always equip us to do the work; whether that be raking leaves, or kicking a ball with kids!
