Read, Watch, or Listen: 2022 ENP Staff Picks

As 2022 comes to a close, here are some of the things our staff have read, watched, or listened to this year that have informed our work and/or personal development that we wanted to share as a resource.

A More Beautiful and Terrible History: The Uses and Misuses of Civil Rights History by Jeanne Theoharis

When we look back at history or legends like MLK Jr., we romanticize and whitewash the path towards justice. This book does a powerful job of telling the real history and how none of these movements was a given outcome, but hard won and we are living in those moments today.

The Scout Mindset: Why Some People See Things Clearly and Others Don’t: by Julia Galef

I think we live in a world where identity politics is far too common. People take politics and other issues personally. So how do we stop from doing that ourselves? We take on a Scout Mindset. Introspection can help us see things more clearly. Certain aspects were definitely enlightening for me.
