Reimagine

From November 10-13, several of our staff members attended the Christian Community Development Association National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. This year’s theme was “Reimagine” and we explored with practitioners from across the country questions like, “What is God calling us to reimagine in our community for His glory?

Here are a few of our takeaways:

Don’t wait for a seat at the table, just make your own table.

Jennifer Parra

When you do something “for” others, that ends up being a project. When you do something “with” others, it equals a relationship.

Let us REIMAGINE our relationships with community members so we can be the change in their lives and together we can be the change in our community.

Charity makes us feel good, justice puts us at risk.

Unite and give back.

Philippians 3:20-21 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

We as Christians need to remember that our home is with Jesus. We are citizens of Heaven, not America. We are to eagerly seek Him, waiting for the day we get to be with Jesus.

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also

We must not store treasures for ourselves here on earth, for if we do, our hearts will be here, not with Jesus. We must not lose sight of the vision.

We have become so obsessed with being satisfied on Earth that we may just become satisfied here on Earth. Where are we storing our treasures? Where are we making a home for ourselves? Is it here on Earth? Or are our eyes fixated on Jesus, eagerly seeking to be with him?

Connecting with Fresno Friends

We are thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow together as a team and to be part of the work that God is doing in Fresno. We enjoyed connecting deeper with each other as well as with others from Fresno as we seek to reimagine and dream with our city, for the glory of God.
